“Created by indie singer-songwriter turned stage phenomenon iOTA and theatre director Craig Ilott, Smoke & Mirrors returns from a triumphant Edinburgh Festival run road-hardened and with a stronger emotional spine.

Backed by Tina Harris's exceptional band, iOTA is the unstable core of the show, pouring his heart out in self-penned songs and conjuring up variety turns: a trio of acrobats, a trapeze artist, a magician, a bearded lady. Each brings something unique and surprising to the table.

Timothy Woon's stage illusions are astonishing, doubly so in close-up. Looking as if they have stepped out of an Edwardian seaside postcard, ThisSide Up acrobats (James Brown, Casey Douglas and Christian Schooneveldt-Reid) flex, pose and perform marvellous lifts. Trapeze artist Kali Retallack is a sassy charmer and Queenie van de Zandt's bearded lady is completely captivating. With just one heartbreaker song to play with, she comes close to. stealing the show - no small feat given iOTA is in sizzling form.”
