Founded in 2011 by renowned performer, writer, and activist Queenie van de Zandt, Amazon Woman Enterprises (AWE) is a boutique theatrical & entertainment production house that creates and produces multi-award-winning productions, comedy performances, and theatrical experiences throughout Australia and Internationally. AWE creates live theatrical experiences that are renowned for their creative excellence, and for provoking laughter, empathy and awareness in equal measure.

To date their critically acclaimed shows have been nominated for an impressive 9 theatre award nominations, including Helpmann, Sydney Theatre and Green Room awards, with 3 well-deserved wins.

AWE’s widely celebrated catalogue of Queenie’s original works include:  Amazon Woman and other stories, CABARET - In 12 Easy Steps, The Best (and Worst) of Queenie van de Zandt, BLUE: The Songs of Joni Mitchell, The Choose Your Own Adventure Series, DIVAS, Tea for Two, and three albums; two studio albums of original music, Amazon Woman and Other Stories... and a live recording of one of Queenie’s cabaret performances, Queenie van de Zandt - Live in Cabaret.

AWE’s live shows have toured to music venues, theatres, and music, cabaret, and comedy festivals, across Australia as well as internationally. Her most successful show, BLUE: The Songs of Joni Mitchell, played to sold-out houses in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne before touring to the US and then throughout regional Australia. It was nominated for the Sydney Theatre Award, and the Helpmann Award and won the Glug Award for Best Cabaret and two Broadway World – Sydney Awards for Best Cabaret and Best Cabaret Performer. The show was all set to do an extensive US tour in 2020 until COVID shut down the tour 4 days before leaving the country.  The show continues to tour regularly with a future US tour in the planning.

AWE also produces the work of Queenie’s alter-ego, Jan van de Stool, the madcap International Musical Therapist who gathered a national cult following, when she appeared on Australia's Got Talent. Her one-woman show I GET THE MUSIC IN YOU an evening with Jan van de Stool which she co-wrote with Tony Taylor, played to sold-out houses and great critical acclaim at the Ensemble Theatre in Sydney, with the season being extended three times. It then toured throughout Australia to sold-out houses and before performing at two Melbourne International Comedy Festivals.

Jan van de Stool has been seen by over 1 million people through her live shows, work in corporate theatre, online presence on YouTube and social media, and TV appearances. She is now regularly asked to appear at arts festivals as well as host high-profile charity events, concerts, galas, and award shows, such as the Helpmann Awards (Australia’s version of the Tony Awards) for two years running, both of which were televised on Foxtel and ABC TV.  Queenie continues to work with her co-writer Peter J. Casey, on developing TV shows based on this character, as well as continuing her live performances with Jan’s new theatre show – PARTING THE RED CURTAINS – which premiered at the Woodford Folk Festival before touring to the Brisbane and Sydney Comedy Festivals.

AWE also creates and delivers theme-driven events and corporate theatre for company awards nights, retreats, and conferences, as well as writing and performing hilarious and innovative training films and hoax inspirational speeches for leading corporate companies. Clients include Optus, Schneider Electric, RSPCA, The Sydney & Melbourne Theatre Companies, The Aurora Group, the City of Stonnington, Caulfield Grammar School, and Yamaha Motorcycles.

Most recently, AWE has created a truly unique and exciting type of theatrical experience, which is created in conjunction with a family, friendship group, community, or company and presented in a deeply personal and life-affirming way.

Through a process of interviews, research, and creativity, and using her skills as a trained celebrant, Queenie (along with willing friends, family, and/or colleagues) creates a one-off, bespoke, memorable, and musical presentation, a kind of ‘This is Your Life’ commemorative show, for individuals (experiencing a wedding, significant birthday, or organising an end-of-life celebration or funeral) or for a corporation (to be a part of their awards night or team building retreat).  Performed by her and her willing co-creators, these shows help people profoundly celebrate and commemorate these special events, in a way that is deeply felt and never forgotten.

Through Amazon Woman Enterprises, Queenie continues to innovate and create unique, hilarious, and thought-provoking theatrical experiences for audiences across Australia and beyond. She brings to all her work, not only a wealth of experience but also her fine communication skills, her passion for the arts and humanities, her warm and positive nature, and her wonderful sense of humour.
